About Bishop

Bishop Shelton Craig Daniel, Leader, Teacher, Preacher and Pastor. Bishop Shelton Daniel is a spiritual leader whose ultimate goal is to maintain a relationship with God and to spread the message that God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. A leader who has conceived the vision that God has laid in his care. A leader with a God-given talent to lead people with tender mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness and an exceptional way of making others feel needed. A leader who has superb integrity, a thirst for knowledge and a unique way of mixing analytical with creativity!

Bishop SHELTON CRAIG DANIEL was born in Newark, New Jersey, the son of
Bishop James E. Daniel and Mrs. Beulah Marie Daniel. He attended Shaw
Divinity School, Winston-Salem State University and Durham Technical
Community College. He is a graduate of Biblical Studies from Liberty Bible
College, Lynchburg, Virginia. Bishop Daniel received a Bachelor of Arts Degree
from Chelsea University and a Masters Degree in Theology from New Covenant
Bible College. The General Baptist State Convention with the collaboration of
Shaw Divinity School awarded him a certificate in facilitation. He has served as
moderator of the Reedy Creek Baptist Association 37 churches and currently
serves as the President of the Eastern North Carolina Ministerial Alliance which
consist of 125+ pastors.

 

Bishop Daniel began his ministry under the pastoral leadership of Bishop James
E. Daniel, pastor and founder of Greater Joy Baptist Church of Durham, North
Carolina and he was ordained as a messenger of God in 1993. He became the
interim pastor of Ivory Hill Baptist Church of Enfield, North Carolina in 1998.  God
saw further vision for him and he became the full-time pastor of Ivory Hill in 1999.

He served at Ivory Hill as pastor from 1999-2009.  He then went on to become
Founder and Pastor of Greater Joy Church of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.  This
was the beginning of what God had in store.  In 2009, Pastor Daniel received the
assignment to birth a new work and set out to do it with 14 – him and his family. 
Within 8 year, God has added daily to the growth of more than 1500 members.
There has also been an additional location added in Roanoke Rapids bringing
the Greater Joy Inc. membership to more than 2000 strong, one church 2
locations. Bishop Daniel has started “Survivors” Support Group where he listens
and counsels those needing restoration from all walks of life to include substance
abusers, relationship issues and church hurt.   His community activities are
numerous such as Shelters, Food Banks, Child Care, Free Dental care only to
mention a few. Bishop Daniel makes himself visible for support in our children’s
schools and participates in reading programs and addressing students at school
assemblies. He has dedicated his life to changing lives and improving our
communities.

 

Bishop Daniel presently resides in Rolesville, North Carolina with his wife,
Sharon Crews Daniel. They are the proud parents of 2 children, a son Tyler and
a daughter Taylor.
